Felix da Housecat's new album: His best album yet

Oh yeah....

If you ask me: "What have you been listening to lately?" I'd only have to tell you one thing:

Virgo Blaktro and the MovieDisco

I've been waiting for a sound like this for a looong time. It's like a New Disco type sound with a touch of funk in it. Add Felix's style into it, and you'll have an original sounding album that will take many by surprise.

Enough of my gibberish on his new album, here's a short excerpt from his myspace page, talking about the origins of the album:

"I said, it's going to be a sexy, black, electronic disco record and I'm gonna call it Virgo Blaktro & The Movie Disco. Why? 'Cos I'm a Virgo - August 25th - and back in the 70s they all used starsigns, and I recorded it at Movie Disco studios in Barcelona." Vowing to keep things simple, Felix limited his studio personnel to two: his Belgian producer, BC, and his attractive new vocalist, Zahna, an opera singer from Eastern Europe he met in Barcelona. "This is the first album I've recorded stress-free," he says. "This is the first album I've felt like an artist making it. Everything was flowing because it was just the three of us."

I've listened to the CD over and over and still can't get enough of it. I cannot wait until it finally drops on October 1-2 (worldwide)

Kanye West + Daft Punk = Stonger

Yes it's true, Kanye West has teamed with Daft Punk to create his song/music video "Stronger" West samples the song "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" from Daft Punk's sophomore album "Discovery". This new track will appear in his new album "Graduation, coming sometime time in September this year...

As for the video, Kanye goes for a "Japanimation" type style, in a futuristic world. UNLIKE another song/music video where a hip-hop artist has sampled Daft Punk (Busta Rhymes' "Touch it") Kanye West actually gives acknowledge to the French duo by having them in the video. (pretty cool move imo)

Check out the video. I've only watched it once, after catching a clip of the song on DC101 this morning. I immediately took the lyrics i heard and typed them in Google. (Google is your friend)

My take on it:

Video: Pretty cool: I'd definitely watch again, better than most the crap videos I see out now.

Song: Song is catchy at best, I really need to listen to it again (I had to blog this now, or would've been to busy to do it later) Let's just say the Daft Punk factor (them being them and their actual music) really helped out this project.

What more can I say? Daft Punk will now get more fans upon this song/video, and Kanye West wins by just having the expierence to team up with Daft Punk, haha. (biased am I?)

Two great talents coming from two different parts of the music spectrum is always a risk - a risk that should be taken more often for the benefit of the music world.
